Elder McOmber arrives in Prague!

Elder McOmber arrived in Prague after 12 hours of flying and 6 hours of layover in Dallas and London. We received word from his mission president President McConkie that he is doing great and below is a great photo of Elder McOmber with them.  When he arrived he was introduced to the A.P.s who took the missionaries on what they call the "Prague Walk" around town so as to keep them awake long enough for them to go to bed early in this quaint little hotel (also pictured). This will help them best fight the jet lag. When he wakes up later today he will meet his New Missionary Trainer (first companion) and they will get on a train and head off to their city.  We had a great chat with him yesterday while he was in the Dallas airport. He sounded great. He struck up a conversation with this gal who worked in a retail store at the airport and they talked about their love of their Savior and Dan introduced her to the Book of Mormon and she happily took it and said, "If this book brings me closer to my Savior like you said, I will read it." Very cool.

I am past the half way mark for my time at the M.T.C!! I couldn't more excited! Got just 4 more weeks left and i'm outta here off to the Czech Republic!!! :D

Starting with Sunday, It was my last fast Sunday here!!! But other tan that it was a normal day until the branch president called me and my companion in to his office. When we walked in the president and his Councillors were all there. Kinda sketch.. First thing they said was, we just called one of your companions ( Elder Peterson) to be the sacrament director, so immediately that put me at ease, thinking that that was all. (stupid thought!) then the President looks at us and says.. "That's not all we called you in here for." My heart dropped.. Next thing he says is that me and Elder Cowley have been called as the new ZONE LEADERS! In my head i was like... uhh really? Ha but we accepted of course and now starting this Sunday I will be the new Zone Leader for the next 4 weeks we are here! ( 4 weeks is longer than they usually give )  I am so excited half because that means we get to welcome in the new elders and sister to our Zone as well. And hopefully be good role models for them! Not only that but sense the Bulgarians and the Polish left we get 20 new elders and sisters in our Zone! This week we had the new Polish, there was 5 elders and 4 sisters! We weren't the ZL's for them but next week we get 11 new Bulgarian/Slovene missionaries and we will be there to give them the orientation and get them settled! :)

We were all so excited to get new members into the "fold" so this week went by wayyy fast! It was awesome! We practiced street contacting outside one of the days and it honestly got me soooo excited to get out there and get to work!! now that i am on the down ward slope and so much is happening the weeks are just flying by! Such a great feeling!

I miss and love you back home and i think about you! Not to much but just enough to write letters home! ;)

Miluji te a ja jsem moldlíl pro náš. Vím že co a proč ja jsem šel misii, protože chci učit liděm Czech jak můžou přišlí k Ježíše Krista.

Amazing week 3

It is crazy to me that this is my third P Day! And third time doing laundry at 4:45 in the morning... But it’s worth it to get the computers!
SO much happened last week that it’s hard to remember my entire spiritual experiences, Started off great with Sunday me and Elder Cowley (one of my companions) got to pass the sacrament in our Zone sacrament meeting. I haven’t passed sense I was a Deacon so that was fun! Although our sacrament meetings kind of feel like the rest of our meetings cause we are dressed up.. Like always, and people give lessons/talks like all of our meetings. But it is awesome to be at a sacrament with the zones!

It was amazing to hear that my best friend and My sister read their mission calls to my ward the same day! Amazing feeling knowing that your family and friends are doing the right things and making the right decision to go on a mission! On a side note this week I played allot of basketball, knowing that it is kind of sketchy because so many kids have gotten hurt. Well it was my turn when a kid decided to be a Try Hard and took out my legs when I was going up for a dunk! (Layup) So looks like a minor concussion and a cracked elbow with a side of torn ligaments for me!! Although none of that is actually true... ;) that did happen but I just banged up my elbow pretty bad and it has been swollen all week! It’s going down now but I’ve had to go without playing ball for 4 days because of it! ), But resorting to 4 square and volley ball is fine too! And don't judge because I play 4 square... It gets really intense here and the kids are serious about the 4 square life!

On Tuesday was our Tuesday night Devotional!! This week they hinted that a General authority was coming so I and my Comps sang in the choir so we could get good spots! Turns out the speaker was Elder Richard G. Scott of the 12! It was crazy waiting with anticipation, all the Missionaries just waiting to see who our surprise guest was going to be! I was shocked! The spirit was so strong; he carried it with him when he walked in Marriott Center. We sang "Jesus once of humble birth" then he spoke on "Communication with Heavenly Father." I don't know if you can look it up now but I would suggest trying because it was absolutely amazing! "When He withholds an answer to our prayers He wants us to grow and lean on our own."     "Struggle, Work Hard, Love."     "Through prayers and a desire to serve , the lord will facilitate a glorious mission." That last one I applied to me and it was incredible! It was such a blessing! But once it was over, on his way out of the meeting he turned around and waved to all of us and yelled "BE GOOD!" It was pretty funny! Then he waved more and yelled again "WE LOVE YOU!" he is such an amazing person! That meeting was also the first Multi MTC Devotional to all the MTC's in the world!!

Me and my companion Elder Cowley started Zone wide sand Volley ball yesterday! So only on Thursday mornings that's where we will be! Today has started out great with waking up at 4:45 to do laundry early! Now I get the whole day to do whatever! Then I went to the Provo Temple and I got to see the new MOVIE! IT was so AMAZING! Everything about it was spectacular! It was so easy to feel the spirit testifying that it all was true!

Time to go get the mail i guess we will see who cares about me the most... ;) Till next time,  Nashledanou!!

The first week in the MTC

First Week in the books! Its true what they say, the days feel like weeks but the weeks feel like days! I swear it was just yesterday that i was eating at Golden Coral with my family before i would say goodbye! But I guess that is a result of what happens when you are working harder than you have in your life! Its a little like school... just you actually want to be here and want to learn! But still much harder than school!

The First day was so hectic! I had Josh Write pick me up and show me around so it was way fun to have someone I actually know show me the ropes on stuff. Of course it doesn't help that right when I got to my class she was speaking strait Czech and I had no clue what was going on! Then we sat there while she spoke to us for a second then we watched an orientation video and got to see our Companions! I am in a tripanionship! And I got soooooooo lucky with them because they are both so awesome! Elder Cowley and Elder Petersen. Ill attach a picture of us three, hopefully! All three of us live in Utah about an hour within each other! And we are all 18 fresh out of high school, they are both so chill and we get along perfectly!

So not only did i get lucky with my companions but my Zone is amazing too! Elder Ryan Wyman lives 4 doors down from me! So I see him everyday and his class is next door as well so it has been amazing to go through this experience with him! But yeah he is in my zone and my zone consist of 13 countries! With 8 languages! But that is still only 55 people ironically! I knew about 6 of them before the MTC which makes it even more fun! And all the guys are getting along so well! Ive found that with almost all the guys I’ve had some kind of connection with them through family or what not! Like Elder Jaeger was Courtney McOmber’s dance partner back in the day. Elder Zack Johnson and I have hung out a couple times through some friends of ours! I love these kids! On the top floor of my building there are 8 kids from Lone Peak! So crazy!

My teachers are so nice, Sister White, Brother Machado, and Brother Thompson! Brother Thompson has not taught us yet because he has actually been our "Investigator" that past week! We had to plan and tech a lesson 2days after we got here, In CZECH! It was crazy and im sure sounded like a train wreck but he was way nice about it. ln 2 weeks I’m actually moving to Rain tree in the West Campus! The same day that half of my Zone leave to Bulgaria! (Including Elder Wyman)

Fridays are my P days so I can only email on those but if you want to write me my address is, P.S send me some pictures the more the better! :) Nashledanou!

Ahoy!
This can be for whoever wants to see it but i am doing great here on my third day! First day was brutal and the 2nd wasn’t much better but today is my P day so it’s been relaxing and amazing to chill. I am sitting next to elder Wyman right now, our classes are right next door so I will see him every day! His room is also right down the hall so literally ill see him every day... but it’s been awesome!
The food is good and there is so much of it... but that doesn’t mean I don't want some Becca cookies and Texas Sheet Cake from mom, and Gatorade stuff like that!
I like the dear Elder letters they are fun.
I saw Baylee today in the bookstore... i can’t say I didn't plan to stop by right between 8to8:15 after working out.. but it was great to see her and I have seen sooo many others from lone peak and friends!

PPPAAAARRRIIISSSS FRANCE????????!!!!!! Ryan just showed me and that is sooooo sick! :)))):):):):)):))P)P:()P:O*(OL)PO:)
oh my crap that is the illest! Send me pictures and videos so I can try and see it. It’s not a guarantee
. But that is amazing! I am soo excited for her she will be in here 6 weeks and will love it as much as I already do! It’s crazy how hard you work but when you keep a good attitude you grow to love the work, and the language.

I am the first sr companion ha idk what else to say, but the letters won’t be as frequent from me cause i write in my journal then to just write the same thing on a letter! But i love getting them so if you send them ill write back. Love you all and lemme know how it’s going back home!

The Czech Republic

Elder McOmber will be heading to the Provo MTC on Wednesday. We'll try and update his address so that you can send him care packages. His words, not mine. The Lord works in mysterious and perfect ways. We went from not even knowing where the Czech Republic was on our map, to finding out that our ancestor Calvin McOmber was one of the first missionaries to go to what was recently Czechoslovakia, and convert the first member of the Church in Communist Eastern Europe. The faith and sacrifice of one woman and her wonderful story of conversion have now been brought to our attention, and we couldn't be more excited for Daniel to continue the McOmber missionary work in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Every member is a missionary, we are just so thankful for our Elder McOmber and his faithfulness to serve the Lord.
